Restorative Dentistry Treatments Including Dental Implants, Full Mouth Reconstruction and More
Dental Implants
If you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants can restore a stable foundation to your smile. Dr. Jeffrey Kearney places and restores dental implants at our Cary dental office. These titanium posts are surgically placed within the jaw and left to heal for several months while patients wear temporary prostheses. After they have healed and the jaw has fused with the titanium, Dr. Kearney will attach custom-crafted crowns, bridges, or full dentures to the implants.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns offer you the structural support you need when your tooth is too damaged to stand on its own, but healthy enough to avoid an extraction. For example, you may need a crown after a root canal to preserve the integrity of your tooth, while protecting it from future decay. This prosthetic is often referred to as a “cap” because it fits over your tooth, covering it completely. Crowns can be composed of a variety of materials, such as metal, porcelain, or zirconia. Your dentist will choose a material based on the crown’s location in your mouth for optimized aesthetic value and strength.
Dental Bridges
If you are missing one teeth or several teeth in a row, a bridge can fill the gap in your smile. A bridge, also called a partial denture, is composed of a series of prosthetic teeth. They can be held in place either by adjacent dental crowns or a dental implant. As with all our restorations, dental bridges are custom-crafted to look absolutely natural among your natural teeth.
Implant-supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures can restore full functionality to your smile. Because they are held in place with dental implants, you can use your overdentures to bite into corn on the cob, apples, steaks, and other especially chewy foods without worrying that your dentures will slip out of place. If you are in need of dentures, choosing to support them with dental implants can make a tremendous difference in your quality of life.
Tooth-colored Fillings
We offer tooth-colored fillings for natural-looking cavity restoration. Commonly referred to as white or composite fillings, this treatment is color-matched to your tooth for a seamless finish. Unlike amalgam fillings, composite is metal-free and composed of resin. Composite is as safe as it is beautiful, appropriate for individuals sensitive or allergic to metal. Tooth-colored fillings give you the best of both worlds, providing natural-looking aesthetics and excellent durability.
Inlays and Onlays
Sometimes a tooth requires more support than a filling can provide, but does not require an entire dental crown. In these cases, Dr. Kearney can use an inlay or onlay to restore your tooth. Much like puzzle pieces that your dentist custom fits to the tooth after treatment, an inlay fits within the top part of your tooth between healthy cusps. An onlay replaces missing or damaged cusps, as well as outer portions of your tooth.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
A full-mouth reconstruction is a custom combination of treatments performed to restore full functionality to a severely compromised smile. Dr. Kearney will conduct an in-depth assessment of your oral heath, and recommend the precise treatments needed to help you speak, smile, and chew with absolute confidence. Don't suffer with a compromised smile any longer. Get in touch with us today to learn how full-mouth reconstruction can help you.
